* N25 Waterford City Bypass officially opened on 19th October 2009 *

Celtic Roads Group is extremely proud of the opening of the Waterford City bypass. In particular, we are delighted with the very impressive statement structure which is the Suir River crossing bridge. This bridge is also a fitting gateway to the region. The opening of this project represents the culmination of 3½ years of construction effort. We acknowledge the vital role the National Roads Authority played in this achievement. In particular, we recognise the contribution of our advisors and funders played in bringing us to this point and in no small part our Contractor BAM & Dragados. The expertise that has been exercised in this achievement has combined the best of local and international experience and ability. The project has been completed within time and within budget. While the effort of the last 3½ years in constructing this significant piece of infrastructure has been considerable. We in CRG also look forward to a new phase of the project and that is to operate and maintain this asset for the next 26 years. We look forward to working in partnership with the local councils and local community for the benefit of the area. It is our hope that the opening of the Waterford City bypass will play a part in the economic growth and regeneration to the benefit of all. The project consisted of the Suir River Crossing cable stayed bridge which is 465 meters long, 23km of dual carriageway, and almost 10km of single carriageway, in addition, there are some 64 other structures including rail crossings over and under passes viaducts and culverts some equally impressive as the Suir Bridge. The success in opening this piece of infrastructure marks another significant piece in the national programme of infrastructure development and helps to confirm along with the other significant PPP road schemes both complete and in construction the importance of PPP in developing transport links nationally. It is we believe a ringing endorsement of the success of the PPP programs in use and a recommendation for further investment in PPP schemes into the future.
